*****Iowa (W) vs Indiana Game Thread*****

4 points in the 2nd half. We will never win any game against a team with a heartbeat if she’s shut down like that
They played a box and 1 on her that happenend to me in high school for one game it is very fuststrating

Bluder was completely outcoached and she doesn’t understand that you can’t play a 4 guard lineup against IU.
Two starters in MD and GM with 20 minutes of play and 0 points. She starts both in second half MD throws up a circus shot in lane. GM gets beat down the lane for a basket and 1. Calls time out and leaves them both in the game.
After we are down 16 she finally puts TM in fir GM. Pathetic!
Kylie Feurbach and Taylor McCabe should be splitting GM minutes and Syd should be starting for MD.
We might have still lost this game, but this lineup gives us the best chance.

Iowa has a tough time with teams with length, especially inside. Stuelke struggles against posts with long arms and does not finish well at all against them. She is playing out of position and I know the other posts lateral quickness kills them, but I would consider playing Stuelke with O'Grady some so Stuelke can attack the rim off the dribble. Going into this season I really thought not having Warnock back was going to hurt this team. Unfortunately, Ava Jones was in that horrible accident and couldn't help fill that role.

Hannah not having a jump shot certainly limits where she can play on the offensive end.

Kinda funny they get all tough when Iowa whipped them by 27 earlier.
They really wanted to beat Iowa at home because it meant more to them to win a regular season game...........it's been funny the last 3 years watching how catty Indiana has been with Iowa.

Not even Ohio State or Maryland with all their recent success are as triggered by Iowa as Indiana has been.

Btw, I know this is late, but can we please get the f*** out of the top 10 rankings now, so I don't have to watch this literally physically burden this team anymore?..............

Geezus f***ing christ, that's been hard to watch. Get us the f*** away from the top 10, please. We don't deserve it, and this team clearly doesn't like it.

They were definitely a bunch of annoying biotchs tonight

Tonight was simple- if this team does not shoot well %-wise, they struggle. Lots of shots rolled off the rim, a couple players were not willing to assume responsibility for initiating offensively and the environment was difficult. Flush and move on! I hope they play angry Sunday.

Triggered is a good word. They aren't as good as Iowa on a neutral floor and it drives them batty.

Did Indiana storm the court? I swear i saw that when watching highlights. I'm all for court storming when you have a huge upset but this wasn't really a big upset.

"The shot" has really stuck in their collective minds. That and Moran is another coach hung up on her star not getting the kind of hype that Clark gets....

I think this loss (and Ohio State) are definitely on Bluder’s coaching. To me, it seems like she keeps trying to coach like it’s last year’s team. We need to try out the Clark, Martin, Affolter, Stuelke, OGrady lineup against bigger teams like Indiana. Why on god’s green earth was 5’ tall Molly Davis ending up against Holmes in the post? Gabbie is also severely undersized. Especially if she cannot make her own shot. She just doesn’t have the confidence this year to even attempt shots.

Gabbie needs to shoot or sit.
She has passed up a lot of open shots the last 6-8 games which is a concern considering she is tabbed as a long range specialist. Her defense has been suspect and I'd say she's not considerably any better that Syd or Kylie.

1 asst, 1 TO, 1 reb and 3pts in 1-2 shooting in almost 34min of playing time last night. That's as close to a 0-stat line as you can get....Bluder appears to be riding her out the rest of the year. That will come back to bite them down the stretch. If CC has an off night (last night) or gets stopped/doubled all night, they're hosed.

It will be interesting to see who they draw in the tournaments - there are a lot of 'bad matchups' that could lead to an early exit.....

That said, it's been a great year - the record, MSU game at home, POW honors, Stuelke record game, CC record game, homecourt and away sellouts, etc.....

What's even more concerning is that teams are sagging off off her. I think it's time to roll with Syd starting (she can shoot well enough and is the best defender we have). McCabe needs to be inserted into the lineup now more than ever. I'd almost roll with Taylor getting Molly's backup minutes. Kate and Syd can't be off the floor at the same time... Kylie for Sydney and Gabbie for Kate.

However, you already mentioned this is all unlikely to happen. Coaching is hard, building relationships and trust in certain situations is hard. We fall back on the known and hope for that instead of rolling the dice on what we don't.

IMO Bluder will not make any adjustments or even minor tweaks given her history. They will fly this team into the ground as is my guess. Losing 2 out of the last three makes this team look very pedestrian. Hope I am wrong.

One thing i noticed continually with HS in the paint is her inability to be patient. She throws it up so quick and it gets blocked by true centers. If you are going to fake an up, commit to it...
Yeah I noticed that when trying to see how Holmes was getting her blocks.

She does a good job of anticipating shot angles and keeping her hand in the right spot to meet the ball, rather than it seeking the ball, which is when you get the reaching contact on shooting fouls.

Hannah, and really everyone else, did a poor job of adjusting/recognizing. There was no adjustment to go through her arm, and protect the ball to get the shot up.

In one instance, I remember some fans were upset that Holmes didn't get called for a foul on a block of Stuelke, but it was Hannah's fault for not keeping her off hand on the ball through the shot. The contact initiated on that arm, but came through because she tried to shoot with one hand while shielding with the off-hand and that exposed the ball to allow Holmes to block it.

If Hannah keeps both hands on the ball when that arm contact is initiated, then a shooting foul SHOULD be expected. But those little details go back to scouting/coaching/learning.................just sayin.
